What is the Consortium Legal Aid Georgia?

The Consortium Legal Aid Georgia (LAG) is an umbrella organization uniting four Georgian non-governmental organizations which have been working together within the framework of Norwegian Refugee Council’s (NRC) Information, Counselling and Legal Assistance (ICLA) programme implemented in Georgia since 2002. The LAG Consortium presently comprises the following organisations:

Social Programs Foundation (SPF) based in Tbilisi, Georgia

Organization Future Prosperity House (OFPH) based in Kutaisi, Imereti region, Georgia

Legal Protection Institute (LPI) based in Zugdidi, Samegrelo region, Georgia

Kakheti Regional Development Foundation (KRDF) based in Akhmeta, Kakheti region, Georgia

NRC’s exit from Georgia in 2013 has inspired the four NGOs to pursue strategies to keep their network alive, to re-define their group identity and to increase their exposure in order to maintain the high quality services provided to the beneficiaries, strengthen their ability to seek funding and develop a new brand of legal services.

The LAG Consortium was established in December 2012 and registered as a legal entity in November 2013 in accordance with the Georgian legislation. The LAG Consortium’s Board comprises heads of all four partner NGOs and four former senior national NRC staff who jointly determine the strategies priorities and directions for the Consortium.
