The Free Legal Aid for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Georgia 2016

The Free Legal Aid for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Georgia project is funded by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and builds on the similar project previously implemented by the LAG Consortium in partnership with UNHCR in 2015. The overall goal of the project is to Facilitate Access to Durable Solutions for IDPs which is to be achieved through: 1) Ensuring access to free-of-charge legal aid and counselling and 2) Provision of advocacy work and capacity building of relevant stakeholders. In the scope of the project IDPs will be provided with information regarding their rights, legal counseling on specific issues of concern and direct legal assistance including in-court representation. The project envisages capacity building and advocacy towards the state institutions in charge of IDP policy formation.

In 2016 project LAG Consortium launched online consultations through its Facebook and webpage (www.lag.ge), through which beneficiaries can raise their questions and receive responses without visiting our offices. Also, LAG Consortium continues cooperation with State Legal Aid Service (LAS), which started in 2015.
