Journalist workshop and media tour in Kutaisi

On 23-24 January, 2018 Consortium Legal Aid Georgia (LAG) organized journalist workshop and media tour in Kutaisi.

The first section of the event envisaged provision of the training to approximately ten journalists on the IDP rights, related legislation and ongoing reforms. Moreover, the journalists had a chance to get familiar with the advocacy campaigns launched by the working groups established by LAG, learn about the progress achieved and remaining challenges. After orientation workshop the media representatives were asked to visit preliminary identified IDP settlements in order to cover existing problems via TV reportages, radio programs and newspaper articles.

The workshop and media tour were organized in the framework “Towards the Fairer Society” project which is being implemented in several regions of the country in partnership with Danish Refugee Council and Charity Humanitarian Center “Abkhazeti”. The aim of the project is to capacitate local CBOs and CSOs working on IDP issues so that they can advocate for their rights. The project is funded by Civil Society Development Fund (CISU).
